Journey of the Red Rubber Ball

In the last entry, I introduced you to Kevin Carroll Katalyst. You may remember that Kevin left one if his red runner balls with me. The ball has been riding around in the back of my car and getting impatient. During a trip up to Charlotte this week, it was able to get out and stretch. (It is made of rubber you know!) I will turn over the keyboard to the ball so it can tell you about it's journey so far.

I started my visit in Ballantyne where three giant bulls are lying on the grass. They are sort of scary but interesting, so I watched for awhile and decided to move in closer.

The bench seemed like a safe distance to watch and eventually I decided to move in and introduce myself.

Once I got close, I found them to be very friendly.

Heading to uptown Charlotte, I needed to find a parking place.

Heading down the street, I discovered that Charlotte is a beautiful city. The views down the street and between the buildings are beautiful. With all of the nice fountains, I feel relaxed just being here!

It's lunch time and I'm hungry. Hmm...maybe seafood!

With all the benches along the street, I can take a nice rest and watch the traffic go by.

Charlotte definitely has culture and art. There's an example right on the sidewalk! That thing is huge! I wonder if it is safe for rubber balls?

Hey, this is fun. Art and exercise!

I'm headed off in search of more culture.

Am I art or am I function?

Ok, now I am inspired and I think I will take in a museum. Maybe I could be one of the displays.

I ended my first trip checking out the Methodist Church. It's a beautiful building. I think with my red color, I look pretty good against the stone.

Hopefully, I will get a chance to see more of the city. If I do, I will definitely get some snapshots and keep everyone updated. Time for me to roll on out of here.

Sara in NODA

For those who don't live in Charlotte, NODA is North Davidson St. NODA is an arts district and full of interest and color. Sara met me there yesterday for a fun session. Here are a few of the results.

in NODA everything is a prop from the colorful, tile benches to the work equipment in the background.

railroad tracks always make a great setting. while we were shooting this, there is another track 1 block away and I heard a train whistle. I thought it was on the other track, but I thought maybe I should look behind me just to check!

More of Alyse

When Alyse came, we did not focus on the gloves, although we did do a couple of shots with them. We had a lot of fun creating images with various outfits. The last one is a dress with a peacock feather pattern. That immediately inspired me for our next project together. I am waiting for props to arrive, but keep watching for some more great images with Alyse.

The layers in the skirt look great. I love texture in fabrics.

Gloves meets Classy

Denita stopped by to try on the gloves and show her style. She demonstrated what happens when classy meets the gloves. We had a fantastic time and created a lot of great images. Here are a few.

Alyse

Alyse's mom is the sister of the groom in a wedding that I shot recently. (Don't bother trying to figure it out!) Alyse is an awesome model and she came by for some test shots. Of course, I had her try out the gloves. Some people may think I am a bit obsessive at this point. Really, I will move on to other things someday. Just a few more! Here are Alyse's results.

Lynda with gloves

Lynda and Christina came together so we went back and forth shooting.

I really like close up shots. Lynda has great hair for the one eye shot too.

This dress was awesome on the black. The white lines give definition for the dress but it still blends with the black background. White gloves were perfect.

This was my favorite shot because it has an ecelctic mix of elements. We tried the one glove idea. Her pose, the one glove, the wild shirt, the white belt, and Lynda's personality all come together for a great photo.

Last week, I had the pleasure of having Lynda and Christina come for sessions with the gloves. It has been interesting to see how different people interpret simple props like gloves. I am starting to think of new props that could be really fun too. Here is the first shot with Christina.

I really like how the black dress disappears against the black background. It leaves her face to really pop out and the white gloves create a frame.

When I saw this dress I was excited about the white stripes. Along with the gloves, they create nice framing elements.

Again the white lines work great on the black background and with the white gloves.

You've just gotta love red! And withe black gloves, it's awesome.
